Ten years ago, a group of British entrepreneurs, investors, and technologists gathered at the British Residence in San Francisco. That evening marked the beginning of GBx, and the foundation of a powerful bridge between the UK and US tech ecosystems.

Since then, we’ve been driven by two things: community and connectivity. Supporting exceptional British talent as they leave home, cross continents, and build globally. All while creating the relationships and networks that make that journey possible.

To mark and celebrate a decade of that spirit — and to bring it back to where it all began — we’re gathering at the Residence once again for a special evening.

Hosted by HM Consul Eleanor Kiloh, the evening will feature a fireside chat with an extraordinary group of Brits who have gone far beyond their comfort zones: breaking barriers, summiting peaks, and achieving what once seemed impossible.

Dame Katherine Grainger is one of Great Britain’s most decorated Olympians, winning medals in each of her five Olympic Games including historic Gold at the London 2012 Games. After serving as Chair of UK Sport she is now chair of the British Olympic Association, overseeing their plans for LA2028.

Lucy Rivers Bulkeley is a pioneering British adventurer who, in 2010, became the first European woman to complete the 4 Deserts Grand Slam running 250km self-supported across the Atacama, Gobi, Sahara, and Antarctica. She has also completed the Seven Summits challenge.

Pete Flint OBE is one of the UK’s most celebrated entrepreneurs and investors, best known as the founder and former CEO of Trulia, which was acquired by Zillow in a multi-billion-dollar deal. A founding member of GBx, he is now Managing Partner at NFX, where he backs early-stage technology companies and helps shape the next generation of founders building in the US.
