Announcing Four New Board Members

GBx New Board Members

We are delighted to announce four British tech luminaries have joined the GBx board: Sam Chaudhary, Kathryn Parsons MBE, Alastair Paterson and Jamie Quinn.

They complement our existing board, which comprises unicorn founders (Slack, Trulia, Houzz), tech leaders (GoogleX, Ebay, Discord, Orange, LoopUp), HM Tech Envoy to the US & Head of SV DBT, and partners at world leading VCs (Softbank, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Uncork Capital, BGV, Kyber Knight Capital and NFX).

Sam Chaudhary, Co-founder ClassDojo

Sam is the co-founder of ClassDojo, a global community of more than 50 million teachers and families who come together to share kids’ most important learning moments, in school and at home—through photos, videos, messages, and more. The educational unicorn is valued by Tencent at $1.25bn, making it a unicorn.

“The GBx community – Brits who have moved to the US to work on important problems – go through the ups and downs together…There’s nothing like a friendly pint and some dry British humour to put the toughest times in perspective!”

– Sam Chaudhary

Kathryn Parsons MBE, Co-founder Decoded

Kathryn founded Decoded, a technology education company with a mission to demystify the digital world. Decoded has taught over a million people digital skills globally. Kathryn campaigned for code on the UK national curriculum and has sat on advisory boards to No.10 Downing St and London Mayors. In her spare time, Kathryn writes a column on tech for The Times.

“I’m excited to join the board of GBx as I’m a big believer in the power of professional networks…plus the Brits hold the best parties!”

 – Kathryn Parsons

Alastair is a cyber security entrepreneur. He founded Digital Shadows to identify digital risks to organisations, including cyber threats, data leakage and reputational risks. The VC-backed company was acquired in 2022 for $160m. Digital Shadows has been recognised for innovation by 10 Downing Street, SWIFT and Cisco. Collaborating with the Bank of England, Digital Shadows defined the new CBEST cyber threat standard.

“GBx was an incredibly useful network for me personally when I arrived in the Bay Area, full of exceptional and helpful people. Eight years later, I’m delighted to be joining the board and helping to ‘pay it forward’ to the next generation of UK entrepreneurs coming to Silicon Valley”

– Alastair Paterson
