In August 2016, 16 GBx members met to discuss “Post-Brexit Funding”, hosted at RocketSpace’s San Francisco Tech Campus. Guests included Andrew Whittaker, who was kind enough to introduce himself and offer his thoughts in his new role as San Francisco Consul-General.
Gerald Brady set the scene with some interesting insights into Silicon Valley Bank’s perception of how funding has changed after the EU referendum. The conversation was heated, informed and enjoyable. No-one had to be ejected.
The key takeaways were –
• The referendum offers the flexibility to create even more Tech-Friendly policy in UK.
• There’s a need to reassure Investors and Entrepreneurs of concerns around access to Labour, Capital, and Markets.
• There should be UK Visas for European Tech entrepreneurs (already available under the Tier 1 exceptional talent visa for digital technology).
